Croatia is the land of the Karl May movies. It was here that Lex Barker stood in front of the cameras as Old Shatterhand and Dr Sternau. In May 2010, new footage was filmed on the original locations of the 1960s for a documentary about Lex Barker's life with the actor's son, Christopher Barker.
The camera team of KAMA Media accompanied Christopher Barker to the Plitvice lakes ( Plitvice lakes on Googlemap), the Zrmanja plateau ( Zrmanja on Googlemap), the Tulove Grede near the Mali Alan pass, the Krka waterfalls, and to Paklenica ( Paklenica on Googlemap). The sights around the erstwhile holiday resort Crvena Luka ( Crvena Luka on Googlemap)woke many childhood memories for Christopher.
After eventful days filled with work and extensive filming, all participants agreed: Lex Barker's memory is very much alive on the Croatian Karl May movie locations. Our special thanks to the team of KAMA Media, Kulmbach. Further filming schedules for the documentary, which will also include more interview contributions by Lex Barker's companions, are in preparation.
